WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL BROKEN SHELLS

Here you will find stories, vignettes,
memoirs, and such pertaining to the seashore.
Most of the stories are of places I have been to and have fond remembrances.
Other writings are ones I hope you will find interesting or enlightening.
I love the beautiful ocean that gives us a sense of peace and tranquility.
It warms and heals us, it can be exhilarating and powerful,
making us realize in the scheme of things how small we really are.
Let’s find the perfect spot to sit and breathe in the salt ocean breezes
and feel the gentle ocean spray gently caress our face.
Let’s feel the sand between our toes…
Ahhhhh... we are here!
Can you see the sailboats in the distance,
can you hear the seagulls overhead?!

MOM'S SHRIMP FAMILY RECIPE

        Mom’s Fancy Shrimp

This is a family recipe:  My mother received this recipe from the wife of the head chef at Tappan Hill They were very close friends and this was served every New Year’s Eve pre Tappan Hill party at our home .. However, it can be served anytime .. People stood in line for it!

One year my late husband, Bart (who was adored by my mother!) and myself arrived, and my mother told us she had placed a dish for us aside for us so she would be sure we had some.  LOL!   We went to the kitchen where the servers were and asked for shrimp .. the maid told us we had to wait like everyone else .. hahahaha!

When we saw my mother she said “did you have any shrimp yet?” and we told her what was said.. she marched into the kitchen declaring: “give my children whatever they want”!!   My parent’s friends laughed so hard knowing one did not “mess” with Dorothy Boyce’s children!!  Hahaha  The shrimp were of couse marvelous, but we felt the need to go back to the kitchen and soothe the poor maid, making sure she tried some too!!

I’m glad we had favor .. as we would not have wanted to miss those delicious shrimp!!!  Here is the famous (to our family anyway) recipe!  Enjoy

RECIPE
2 lbs Shrimp…. peeled, deveined and dried well with paper towels
2 small cans Hunts tomato sauce
          lots of fresh sliced garlic

          Italian seasoning
Basil fresh if you have it!
Mc Cormick’s seasonall or Jane’s Crazy mixed up salt
          Salt and cracked pepper

                  melted butter
Mix well and Marinate shrimp in seasonings

Preheat oven to broil
Place shrimp on broiler pan with aluminum foil for easy clean up
and baste with melted butter until done ..
          turn shimp once

Watch carefully as to not burn shrimp,
but you do want the sauce hot and bubbly.
Serve w/ fancy toothpicks & melted butter
          for dipping.
This can be served over pasta for a great
dinner entrée with a salad and French
          garlic bread!  Bellisimo

From my heart to Yours,

Donsie
